Was on the Central Otago Rail Trail in April 2005 Started from Ranfurly to Hyde.(Section 5) Good exercise and keeps you fit. The weather was cloudy and mild some sun available cold in some areas was getting hot but having to leave my coat on in case I get into the cold again.
Some downhill and uphill as well from Kokoanga to Daisybank except having to watch for the Highway 87 Blind Spot even there are signs to say major road crossing having to wheel the bike down going across the road then wheel it back up then uphill ride for a short distanct then downhill ride towards Toroiti Cap Burn 90 degree bend then uphill to Prices Viaduct and Hyde Tunnel then the rest down hill to Hyde cafe bar. Enjoyed the ride.
Will travel again in the later day. Do the whole Rail Trail in the later date. I have heard there will be some shelter sheds are going to be built when there is enough funding available. Especially those hot summer months. I did hear the temperatures rose to 42 degrees.
