The BEC Spa Resort

I stayed 2 nights at the BEC after being seduced by their excellent website. I was let down to arrive and find that it is an expensive B&B run by an eccentric American and his (lovely) hardworking German helper. The rooms are spartan and lack any niceties as do the bathrooms. No shower caps, no moisturiser, nothing you'd expect paying what is a high price for the Marlborough region. All other facilities are shared so if you don't like to listen to another painful guest at the breakfast table then avoid BEC. There is only 1 large dining room/kitchen/lounge to relax in. There are no sofa's, stereo or TV's in the room. So if someone's watching TV in the main room while you'd like to relax with a wine then too bad. The owner even tried to send us off to bed at 11pm on a Friday night as he had to get up early the next day. Which would have been ok if there'd been more than a clock radio and 2 chairs in our room. Not even a table to put a glass on... in fact no glasses either!!
