Special Features: There is great fishing available every month of the year. The North Island has the famous rivers Tongariro, Rangitikei and Taharua, and Lake Taupo is one of the best trout producing lakes in the world. The South Island has many remote rivers and lakes ideal for catching brown trout, and is also famous for salmon fishing. The waters around the top of the North Island are renowned for big game fishing, catching and releasing species such as Marlin, Tuna and Billfish.
