Nestled in the lee of the Teviotdale hills and open to the warming northwest winds, the long narrow Waipara Valley provides an ideal climate for growing premium quality grapes.
The company takes its name from an early Canterbury resident, surveyor and farmer, Englishman Charles Torlesse. The company makes stylish and distinctive wines from specific vineyards in Canterbury, including 65 acres of shareholder owned Waipara vineyards. The company carries out all aspects of wine making from crushing, fermentation and barrel maturation, through to bottling on site.
Wine tasting facilities are now available at the new Torlesse Winery cellar-door outlet at Waipara, together with a growing range of wine accessories and interesting arts and crafts from afar.
