When visiting Martinborough, go where the locals go - The Village Café - the heart of Martinborough Wine Village. Relax in the country style surroundings of the café and courtyards enjoying locally grown produce, cheeses, beer and wine. Soak up the atmosphere that is The Village café.
Try the in-house pure pork sausages, dry-cured and smoked bacon, and smoked salmon. Also on offer are jams, pickles and other preserves made from locally grown fruits and produce.
The food philosophy at the Village Cafe is simple. 'If we can't make it ourselves, we won't sell it.' All breads, scones, sauces, chutneys and smallgoods are made on the premises (except the English muffins - demand is just too high). The bacon - all 40kgs a week of it - is house-cured and smoked in a hand-built smoker. As much produce as possible is sourced locally, including free-range eggs.
