Malahide Gardens is a privately owned garden open to the public which also is a Wedding Venue (for weddings during the Spring/Summer/early Autumn). Malahide Gardens was established 25 years ago and in 2003 received a NZ Garden of Distinction award from the Canterbury Horticultural Society (one of 11 awarded throughout NZ).
Covering 6 acres the garden features a wide variety of deciduous, evergreen and blossom trees, rhododendrons and conifers, roses, bulbs and perennials and a number of large and small ponds. The biggest pond is the home of "Muldoon"- a white Mute Swan who enjoys the weddings! Malahide Gardens is one of Invercargill's premier wedding venues and is also open to the public year-round from 10am-5pm daily. A large carpark caters for wedding guests and buses and a wet weather facility is available for up to medium sized weddings. The gardens are located at Lorneville on the main road to Queenstown about 8 km from Invercargill.
