Blue Water Bar & Bistro is a waterfront restaurant in the Bay of Islands, which features the freshest in local seafood and produce as well as mouth watering steaks and "cooked to perfection" lamb racks.

Their large deck offers seaside dining, allowing guests to watch the yachts and ferries, as they dine. In the dining room at night the mood is very elegant with candle lit tables and a cosy atmosphere. Matthew and Shana Lee welcome you to experience their great service, and extensive wine list, featuring over 60 bottles of New Zealand's best wines.

Located in the picturesque sailing village of Opua, a 5 minute drive from Paihia, a short ferry ride from Okiato (en route to Russell), Bay of Islands. Along the 'Twin coast Discovery Highway' we are 260km from Auckland, and are part of the 'Northland Food and Wine Trail 'restaurants and cafes'. Blue Water Bar & Bistro offers a culinary waterfront Bay of Islands Experience.

Getting There: 3-hour drive from Auckland. From Kawakawa, turn right into SH 11 and travel towards Paihia. At intersection turn right into Franklin St and travel to ferry ramp. Turn left into Beechy St to the restaurant on right.
Local Area: Arriving in the Bay of Islands by sea, Opua is your port. We have a new 240 berth marina, yacht club and extensive marine services. The Blue Water Bar & Bistro is in the historic "Opua General Store" built in 1910, it is an ideal spot to celebrate the best of what the Bay of Islands has to offer! Surrounding areas include Paihia, Kerikeri, Kawakawa and Russell. These destinations are within close proximity to Opua.
