Iin a central position behind the Town Clock and Baring Square East, the Ashburton Museum is housed in the old County Council building. The collection is mainly domestic items pertaining to the Ashburton District.
In its displays the Ashburton Museum aims to maintain a balance so that there is something to hold the interest of all visitors both adults and children. Some displays change on a 2-3 month basis while those relating to the history of the area are permanent.
The Museum is complemented by the art gallery on the first floor.
