Man has always dreamed of the freedom of flight... Watching the gulls and the hawks, have you wondered as they glide and turn...silently, gracefully...how they do it and why?

Imagine yourself soaring around the sky in company with a hawk. There is no feeling like it...you feel so free, so peaceful and quiet. The only sound is the whispering wind over the glider and the view is spectacular. Now, suddenly you will understand why they fly and why we do it again and again.

Taupo has excellent conditions for gliding. High altitude, long distance and long duration flights are all possible from our airfield. Taupo Gliding Club instructors are available to you all the time. They are happy to teach you the basics -from "how to stay up there" to the intricate "aerobatics".

Location: The airfield is a 3000ft grass runway at Centennial Park. It is leased from the Taupo District Council. The airfield is private and the club is responsible for all flying operations and maintenance.
