Lahar Farm, New Zealand, can be compared to a Station in Aussie or the South Island, a ranch in the states... Lahar Farm offers you access to 600 hectares or 1,500 acres of high country on the slopes of the volcanic Mt Ruapehu, where scenes for "The lord of the Rings" were filmed and recently a NZ film "River Queen" to be released in January 2006.
Amongst the native tree areas the pastoral land grazes Perendale sheep, cattle and deer. The middle of the farm is called the black forest, inhabiting here are wild deer species you will be able to drive close to - if you're lucky.
Be amazed by the majestic views of the solitary snow capped Mount Ruapehu rising from the east, looking all the way across the Wanganui and Taranaki districts to uninterrupted panoramas of Mt Taranaki.
