Heli Harvest Ltd provides specialist aerial heavy-lifting services with a fleet of two large Russian Mil Mi-8MTV-1 (commonly referred to as 'Mi-8') helicopters throughout New Zealand, Australia and throughout the South Pacific. These helicopters have a maximum external lifting capacity of 5.0 tonnes.

Over the past decade, the scope of Heli Harvest Ltds' work has expanded and they have forged a position as New Zealand's number one provider of aerial heavy-lifting services.

The external load capability of these helicopters is such that we can lift and place external loads of up to 5,000 kg with precision. As a result, the roles that Heli Harvest undertakes are many and varied: timber harvesting, firefighting, disaster relief, construction, vineyard frost protection, cellphone tower installation.

Details

History: The company was formed in the early 1990s to supply helicopter logging services to Timberlands West Coast Ltd - a state owned enterprise. Due to a change in Government policy under the Clark Labour Government, sustainable selective native logging is no longer permitted by Timberlands. Despite this, Heli Harvest continues to play a significant role in the sustainable timber harvesting of private forestry blocks around the country.
