Built in the 1930's The Blue Baths were designed for recreational rather than medicinal bathing. The Blue Baths was a glamorous place and for the first time in New Zealand people could indulge in mixed sex bathing.

People came in their droves to learn the finer points of swimming from expert coaches, to enjoy swimming carnivals - and to have fun! Local swimmers became stars - and The Blue Baths became a national icon.

Described as "one of New Zealand's most loved buildings," The Blue Baths complex has been meticulously restored to its former glory. Care has been taken to retain the unique ambience of this icon of Rotorua. Bathe in history! Take a dip in the thermally heated historic pools. Relax in style in the two adjoining soak pools.
