Further Information: Mohua Motels makes an ideal base from which to explore all this wonderful region has to offer. You really need to spend at least a week or more in Golden Bay; time to visit the rugged beauty at its northern most tip and the numerous beaches that stretch from Farewell Spit to the golden sands of Totaranui at the gateway to the Abel Tasman National Park. At Farewell Spit-or Onetahua as it was named by early Maori in the area-a long arc of sand dunes stretches in an eastward direction as a protective arm on the northern side of Golden Bay.
Local Area: Golden Bay's hinterland reaches into the National Park where you find a diverse landscape along the Heaphy Track as well as a rugged wilderness for the hardy to escape to. Further information can be obtained from GB i-site next to Mohua Motels.
