History
In the small but active community of Glenorchy, the first efforts to establish a public lending library were in 1891. The Rees Valley School was the initial location for a library, whilst searching continued for a suitable alternative. Local John Meiklejohn oversaw all issues pertaining to the library and its development. By 1911 the catalogue showed close to 1000 titles and the Glenorchy library was in full swing.
