A popular tourist attraction is the Cape Reinga lighthouse situated on the northern tip of the New Zealand overlooking the Pacific Ocean and Tasman Sea.
One of the many Light Houses found in New Zealand, Cape Reinga Lighthouse was built in 1941 and first lit during May of that year. As with most Light Houses, the Cape Reinga lighthouse one is now fully automated but still a beautiful spot to visit.
Cape Reinga lies at the northern tip of the Aupouri Peinsula in far north North Island. Although it isn't the northernmost point of New Zealand, it is more accessible than the Surville Cliffs on North Cape, 30 kilometres farther east.
