The South Taranaki i-SITE Visitor Centre promotes South Taranaki's outstanding attractions and facilities. Noted district attractions include the renowned Tawhiti Museum, the Elvis Presley Memorial Record Room, the South Taranaki District Museum and the best surf beaches and outdoor adventures in the world.
The collection of Elvis memorabilia, regarded as one of the most extensive in Australasia, contains thousands of rare and expensive recordings, souvenirs and memorabilia.
Widely acclaimed as the best private museum in New Zealand, the Tawhiti Museum uses life size dioramas and exhibits to create an historical account of life in South Taranaki. The life size figures are created from moulds of real South Taranaki people.
Patea is home to the South Taranaki District Museum, which contains a number of important archives and memorabilia from the district's past. The Maori Court consists of Maori artwork, carving, tukutuku weaving, clothing and weapons.
