Queens Park

Several hours need to be put aside to explore the expanse of Queens Park, recognised rightly as one of the most important parks in New Zealand and certainly a popular retreat for Invercargill residents.

The park features beautiful rose gardens, a rhododendron dell and azalea garden, dramatic tree-lined walkways, a selection of New Zealand native plants, a Japanese garden, plus rock and herb gardens. An indoor winter garden houses tropical and flowering plants and cacti.

Queens Park also has an impressive bird aviary, animal enclosures, children's play areas, extensive sporting facilities and cafes. As a bonus the grounds also house the Southland Museum and Art Gallery.
