The Old Countryhouse

The Old Countryhouse is a backpacker hostel within five minutes of the city centre. Quiet, private grounds make it easy to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and relax in the peaceful surroundings. This lovingly restored suburban house has become one of Christchurch's finest small hostels.

Take a walk along the garden path leading to two charming turn of the century villas offering rustic and colourful home-style accommodation with polished wooden floors and handmade native timber furniture. Both villas have been completely restored, are tastefully furnished and well equipped to please the traveller's need.

All rooms have central heating to keep warm during those cold winter months. There are well equipped kitchens and you can pick your own fresh herbs from the organic herb garden to enhance your meal, TV lounge and a separate reading lounge to chill out.
