Established by those passionate about the subject, Great New Zealand Steam Journeys allow visitors to take full advantage of New Zealand's extensive rail network. See spectacular scenery from the comfort of their beautiful machines.

Great Steam Journeys have trains running right around the coutry, both south and north islands, allowing visitors to take a short tour of a region, or take a tour from tip to tip. Travel along such famous stretches as the Tranz Alpine Express in carefully restored locomotives. There are around 20 trains in the range, mainly from the 1930's to 1960's, but all with a charm of their own.

Tours are run monthly with Great New Zealand Steam Journeys, taking in scenic highlights from the tropical Northland to the snow-capped mountains. Additional touring packages are from six to ten days with selected highlights.
