Ruakaka Reserve Motor Camp is a clean, friendly and family orientated camping ground in park like surroundings, situated on 32 acres of peninsula.

It is one of the largest camp sites in New Zealand with 180 caravan and campervan sites, 111 tent sites and 5 backpacker cabins. Backpacker cabins sleep three, each having a set of bunks, you need to supply own linen.

Facilities at the camp include a tennis court, children's play area, metered kitchens and laundry, toilets, baby baths and metered showers. Dump stations and disabled toilet, as well as car and boat wash and fish cleaning area.

The camp is bordered by a safe lagoon, which leads to an estuary. This is a DOC bird sanctuary and there are some restricted areas roped off for birds. A patrolled surf beach is a short walk away.

Things to do: There are many attractions in the area. These include The beautiful Bream Bay beaches - the coast extends 22 kms southward from Marsden Point to Waipu Cove. This area combines typical NZ countryside with the most beautiful coastal scenery. It also offers very safe swimming and fishing.
Getting There: From, Auckland City, travel north across the Harbour Bridge on State Highway 1. The trip is well under 2 hours at an easy pace, with plenty of places to eat or take in the view. When you get to the top of the Brenderwyn Hills, there's a marvellous view of Bream Bay, with Ruakaka dead centre, only 10 minutes further on. The nearest city, Whangarei, lies only 20 minutes north of Ruakaka.
