Accommodation is in Seaview Cottage which stands adjacent to the main FitzRoy House, with enough room for up to six guests.

Due to the isolated nature of the island there is no reticulated power or water. Electricity is supplied by a combination of solar panels and generator while water is from a spring. The self contained kitchen has and electric fridge and gas hot water. The Port FitzRoy store is 10 mins walk from the cottage as is the Boat Club, a fully licensed rustic restaurant open three nights a week.

This is the perfect place to stay for any wildlife or bird lovers, and anyone looking to get back to basics but to do it in style. The surrounding wildlife sanctuary can be explored at your leisure.

Special Features: A four day Tramp/Sail package is available to explore the forest and harbour of this wonderful island. Great Barrier Island is located 90km north-east of Auckland City, its isolation creating the ideal location for a 600 acre native bird and wildlife refuge, Glenfern Sanctuary. Many of the feral species responsible for decimating native wildlife on the mainland were not introduced to the island, giving conservationists a helping hand in controlling pests. Additionally Glenfern Sanctuary has built a two km pest exclusion fence across the Kotuku Peninsula.
