Highway House B and B is itself part of Oamaru's heritage. It was built of the local Oamaru white stone in 1935 in the English storey and a half aesthetic tradition. It is located only minutes walk from the town centre, and bedrooms are newly redecorated and very comfortable, with electric blankets, heating and TV.
This English-style residence has been entirely refurbished so that the fine Italian ceilings, Canadian oak panelling, leadlight windows and rimu staircase are complemented by 21st century decoration.
From this comfortable base one can easily visit the plentiful Victorian buildings in historic Oamaru and intersperse this with time in the idyllic rural environs or viewing the massively popular blue and yellow penguins.
