    The Nelson region is the northwestern area at the top of the South Island. The beautiful area lies between the northern edge of the Southern Alps to the great sweeping beaches on it's coastline. The region has 3 National Parks within 90 mins of each other- Abel Tasman, Kahurangi and Nelson Lakes.
