Surat Bay Lodge

This Surat Bay Lodge is located on the edge of the Catlins Estuary right next to the beautiful beach of Surat Bay inhabited by native New Zealand Sea Lions. It's the perfect place to base yourself while you explore the wonderful native environment.

The hostel features double rooms, twin rooms and share rooms. All rooms have central heating, pillows, sheets and warm duvet. Guests are welcome to use the fully equipped kitchen and laundry facilities.

It is located along the Southern Scenic Route providing easy access and only 5km from Owaka with its many shops, cafes and restaurants. At the end of a lovely short forest walk from the hostel lays the most photographed fall in New Zealand, Purakaunui Falls. The track is easy and return time only 20 minutes.
