Ideally situated to explore the Northern West coast of the South Island. Birds Ferry Lodge provides luxurious comfort, great food & wines and warm hospitality. Surrounded by stunning views and peaceful tranquillity, the lodge is built on the edge of a glacial terrace. The guest rooms overlook native forest in the valley below and the ocean beyond. Most of the vegetables used in the kitchen are home grown and our free-range hens and ducks provide the best eggs for breakfast. Dinner with wine is available at $65 per person when booked one day in advance.

Guests enjoy the use of their own lounge area, heated outdoor spa, house bar and complimentary hot and cold (non alcoholic) beverages are available at any time.

Getting There: From the South, after passing through Charleston, drive for 8KM, cross the BIG TOTORA RIVER, turn left at the top of the hill Birds Ferry Road. From the North, 17km from Westport on SH6 you will come to Birds Ferry Road on your Right. From Nelson, 6km out of Westport take the turn for Greymouth (SH6) and drive for 11km. Once on Birds Ferry Road follow the power poles for 1.8km, on the unsealed road.
Local Area: Among the scenic treasures to be found on the West Coast are New Zealand's highest mountains, lowest glaciers, finest lowland rainforests (with the tallest trees), wildest beaches, longest caves and most natural rivers. The West Coast of the Southern Alps has it all - it is one area of New Zealand that you must not miss.
