Local Area: The Esplanade which overlooks this stretch of ocean is renowned for safe swimming and excellent surfing. The patrolled beach is dominated by Cave Rock, a protrusion of volcanic stone through which the sea has eroded a large cavern. You can walk through the cave at low tide to view an assortment of limpet-encrusted rock pools.
