Tongariro National Trout Centre's aim is To develop, promote and expand the National Trout Centre, in partnership with the Department of Conservation; to enlighten and inform children and educate all visitors about Trout, the Taupo fishery and New Zealand freshwater ecology.

The Society promotes public interest in the Taupo fishery and all aspects of trout fishing. The Centre includes an operating trout hatchery, an angling museum and related displays.

The Centre is located within native bush and alongside the Tongariro River, one of the great trout rivers of the world. There re several walks in and about the Centre.

Getting There: The Tongariro National Trout Centre is situated 3 kilometers south of the township of Turangi, on State Highay 1, at the southern end of Lake Taupo on the bank of the Tongariro River.
