The North Otago Museum and Archive is a complex that has been developed to meet the needs of the inspirational, recreational and educational societies of the Waitaki District. The museum's content is largely unique to the local area, including geology and artefacts from the local Maori people (the Waitaha).
A purpose built archive holds records that tell the story of North Otago, its businesses, schools and churches as well as the people themselves. There is also a prestigious collection of Temuka Pottery and a fine array of Victorian and Edwardian textiles.
North Otago Museum hopes to encourage an appreciation and understanding of the district's natural and cultural heritage. Come and experience the wonderful surprises the museum has to offer.
