WEL Energy Trust Academy of Performing Arts opened in 2001 the Academy is Waikato's award-winning performing arts venue. Located on the University of Waikato campus, on the eastern borders of Hamilton, it is set beside the beautiful tree-lined campus lake and hosts music concerts, theatre and dance performances, art and photography exhibitions, small and larger scale festivals, conferences and private dining functions. It also provides world-class facilities for the University of Waikato teaching programmes in Music, Theatre, Dance, and Mâori Performing Arts.

The Academy is available for hire for a full range of arts events, conferences and social functions. To enquire about the availability and cost of hiring any of the Academy venues

Getting There: The Academy is situated on the University of Waikato campus four kilometres to the east of Hamilton city centre. Parking is available via Gate 2b, Knighton Road, Hamilton, with the Academy a two minute walk around the campus lake. You can download a map to the Academy, with detail of Hamilton streets and directions from State Highway 1 to the north and south of the city
