Whangaroa Big Gamefish Club Inc

Join the Whangaroa Big Gamefish Club and experience the fun of fishing. The club is based at the Whangaroa Harbour, and is near to the world renowned fishing area; the Cavalli Islands.

The Whangaroa Big Gamefish Club invites amateur and professional anglers alike to participate in the seasonal competitions. Members can compete in team and individual events, in a charter boat or onboard your privately owned vessel.

The towering cliff faces and deep water sheltered coves and inlets of Whangaroa Harbour offer perfect anchorages for a spot of fishing. Pipis, scallops and oysters are plentiful in the harbour with an abundance of crayfish outside. Marlin are the main attraction to this area, and can be caught from within the harbour on occassion. Snapper, tuna, sharks, barracoutta and hapuka are commonly caught on fishing expeditions; charter boats equipped for deep sea and game fishing are plentiful at the marina.

Club members have access to ramp and slipways facilities, as well as the clubhouse and all its amenities. These include licensed bar and restaurant, Sky tv, EFTPOS and a small shop selling catch and release tags, phone cards and T-shirts.
