The friendly staff at the Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park Visitor Centre are readily available and happy to help. The Centre has numerous displays on the Park and a great range of conservation merchandise. Maps and brochures on the area can be brought here and park rangers are available to advise you on the variety of things to do and see in the Park. And it's not just a fair weather place either; there are videos of the local area to watch, airing hourly and costing just $3 per person.
The Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park has a number of overnight hut trips available, depending on individual experience. Further information and weather updates can be obtained from the Visitor Centre. It is imperative that all persons going into the mountains on an overnight trip, sign in and sign out at the Visitor Centre.
