MOTAT celebrates New Zealand's transport, technology and social heritage by creating an interactive and visually stimulating experience for all visitors.

MOTAT is proud to have in its possession over 300,000 items covering everything from fire engines to World War 2 planes, steam trains to a fully functioning tram line. There are numerous exhibitions and displays highlighting important periods in New Zealand's transport and technology history.

The Tactile Dome is an all time MOTAT favourite. Children can explore in total darkness inside a purpose built dome using only theirsense of touch and direction - a real challenge! Experience the Earthquake simulator, the Whisper dishes or the shadow room - the Hands-on Science Area is guaranteed to bring out the child within!

All tickets give access to both MOTAT sites and all exhibitions/activities, as well as a return tram ride.
