The friendly staff at the Otaki i-SITE Visitor Centre are happy to share their local knowledge and expert advice to help you get the most out of your stay in and to give you the little gems of local knowledge that make a trip really special.

Staff can provide information on the Kapiti, Horowhenua and Wellington regions for those who want to arrange themselves, or are happy to help with bookings. They can also book Cook Strait Ferries, Kapiti Island trips and DOC permits. They are agents for Intercity, Bay Express, and White Star Coaches. And as if that's not enough, there's Internet access there too!

The Kapiti Coast is home to some great beaches, Kapiti Island, Nga Manu Nature Reserve, The Tararua Range and St Marys Pukekaraka Church - the oldest Catholic Mission Station in NZ.

Local Area
The Wanganui, Rangitikei, Manawatu and Tararua districts are bound together by magnificent rivers, forested ranges, deep gorges and long stretches of wild surf beach. There is a strong emphasis on rural lifestyle in this region, as well as an exciting choice of outdoor adventures. Whether you explore by canoe, kayak or jet boat, the Whanganui River is endlessly fascinating. It's the longest navigable waterway in New Zealand - stretching 290km from Mt Tongariro to the historic city of Wanganui, which has established itself as a centre of excellence for the fine arts.
