Mapua Adventures offer a range of boat tours of the Waimea Estuary. All tours provide excellent video and photographic opportunities of scenery and wildlife. Tour choices include wild jet boat rides for the adventurous, and a unique and world-class bird watching tour of the Waimea Estuary accompanied by Ornithologist Dr George Bennett-Wilkinson who provides a personalised and specialised commentary on the bird species and estuarine eco-systems.

The Waimea Estuary is an extensive shallow estuary - the largest in the south island and internationally significant for its birdlife. It's a fascinating and dynamic habitat for many species of plant, birds, insects and fish which rely on the wetland for survival. This coupled with breathtaking scenery, a rich Maori and European history, an abandoned submarine and 14 islands combine to form a unique, fun and interesting jet boat trip.
