The Kauri Shop is well known both locally and internationally for high quality handcrafted gifts and souvenirs at reasonable prices, using wood from New Zealand's most famous tree, Kauri.
Some of the wood used has been recovered from swampland where massive Kauri trees lay buried for thousands of years. Other Kauri has been recovered from farmland, pieces left over from trees cut down 80 to 100 years ago. Also available is a wide range of New Zealand jewellery crafted from paua shell, jade and bone.
