Whanganui Riverboat Centre provides riverboat tours from a Paddle Steamer named the Waimarie.
The vessel worked the river for 50 years carrying mixed cargoes, tourists and River people on this busy river highway, until she sank at her berth in Wanganui in 1952. In 1993 the PS Waimarie was salvaged from the mud and moved to the Whanganui Riverboat Centre for restoration.
Daily cruises are available from 22 October to April 30 at 2pm. From May 1 to 21 October sailings at Weekends, Public Holidays and School holidays are at 1pm. No sailing during August.
