Whangarei District Gliding Club

Experience the thrill of a winch launch to 1500 feet above ground, to soar majestically in air currents generated by the sun. Come soaring at Puhipuhi near the edge of the Bay of Islands, Northland New Zealand. Puhipuhi is a beautiful place, an ancient volcanic table land high up looking over the Pacific Ocean, a place where you will meet new friends, all fired with passion for adventure, for in the sky there are enough adventures to last you a lifetime.

Whangarei Gliding Club flies every weekend and Public Holidays, weather permitting. We have NZGA Qualified Instructors for training new Pilots. Trial flights are our speciality. Enjoy panoramas of the Bay of Islands, and inland Northland.

The Club Airstrip is at Puhi Puhi, 25 Km north of Whangarei. The Club owns four, two seat gliders, and a standard class single seater. The two seaters are an ASK13, Janus, Rhonlerchre II and a Grob 109B motor glider. The single seat glider is a Standard Cirrus . Visitors are ALWAYS welcome.
