Gumdiggers Park is an authentic Kauri gum digging site steeped in the history of the Far North. Giant Gumholes from the late 1800s have been preserved and untouched since the gum diggers left.
One of the biggest industrial booms in New Zealand's past, displays of Gum Diggers Huts, working equipment and information spots are located around this Gumfield, provide details of these heroic pioneers and their lifestyles.
Take a look at displays featuring this rare commodity and learn about the history, now forgotten, of the gum known as "Kauri Gold".
It takes approximately 3/4 hour - 1.5 hours to see the site.
