Friendly and informative guides make your visit to the DoC Arthur's Pass Visitor Centre enjoyable and relaxing. The friendly staff have a good working knowledge of all accommodation, attractions, tours and activities in the area and go the extra mile to give that little gem of information to make your visit special.
Arthur's Pass National Park, only 1.5 hours from Christchurch, is a vast area of mountain peaks, waterfalls, alpine lakes, glaciers and river valleys and is a superb base for tramping, camping, skiing, photography and rock climbing. From the picturesque village on the main road west, kiwi can be heard calling at night and the worlds only mountain parrot the cheeky, intelligent kea may entertain you. There are short walks to towering waterfalls and historic sites, or beautiful mountain top tramps and multi day mountaineering trips. Accommodation includes camping, hostels, back country huts and motels and there are cafes, crafts and a bar and restaurant.
