Circa Theatre

Circa Theatre is one of New Zealand's seven professional theatres. The theatre opened in 1976, and in 1994 moved to our new location in central Wellington, on the waterfront, next to Te Papa: the National Museum Of New Zealand.

2006 sees Circa turning 30, doing what we do best - producing plays of excellence from New Zealand and around the world. The history of the theatre is reflected in our 2006 programme - an intriguing balance of classic & modern.

Circa has two theatres, Circa One and Circa Two (previously called the Main Auditorium and the Studio), and a licensed restaurant and bar. Circa One will bring you professional theatre of the highest standard that will surprise, move and provoke. Circa Two will bring you novel, innovative and challenging work from both established and hot new talent.
