The Skotel is an alpine retreat, nestled in the tussock, on the edge of the Whakapapa Village in the heart of the Tongariro National Park. Skotel has a wide range of accommodation from superior and standard rooms with facilities in the hotel section, to twin or triple rooms in the backpackers' wing. Skotel Alpine Resort also offers 5 small cabins ideal for couples.

Skotel's wood décor, friendly restaurant and bar, spa pools and lounge provides a comfortable base for all activities in the Tongariro National Park.

Things to do: Enjoy a two-hour stroll on well formed paths through Beech forest, across tussock and past waterfalls. The Tongariro World Heritage Park contains many of the finest walks in New Zealand. Challenge yourself on one of the famous one day walks including the Tongariro Crossing, New Zealand's best one day Walk. And for the keen nature lovers there are two and four day walks around the mountains.
Restaurant/Bar: The friendly Skotel Alpine Resort house-bar is a place to relax after a long walk or a day's skiing. A wide range of New Zealand beers and modestly priced wines from various parts of the country will give you the opportunity to try something new. Our bar is open in the evenings from 5pm to 11pm and in the busy times, or if the weather is keeping guests inside, it opens early.
