Take a step back in time and visit one of New Zealands oldest examples of a retired working flourmill. Clark's Mill is a four-storied limestone flourmill, originally built to grind oats and wheat for the owners of Totara Estate in 1866.
The mill was powered by water and produced flour from 1867 until 1976. You can still observe the original machinery in situ, as it would have been used back in the day.
North Otago is steeped in history. While in the area you could also venture along the vanished world fossil trail, which explores the ancient geological history of North Otago, running 80 kms from the Waianakarua River inland to Duntroon.
