Riccarton House & Bush is a heritage site located 3.5 km from the city centre. Situated on 12 hectares the site consists of two historic buildings surrounded by parkland and gardens bordering the Avon River and a native forest reserve featuring Kahikatea trees up to 600 years old. The 1856 homestead provides an insight into early life in Canterbury as experienced by the Deans family, the first Europeans to settle on the Plains in 1843.

Step into a world of Victorian and Edwardian splendour. Join a guided tour of Riccarton House, visit Deans Cottage , enjoy a tranquil walk through the bush or stroll in the park grounds before adjourning to the Drawing Room restaurant for morning/afternoon tea, lunch and coffee.
