Highwic is one of New Zealand's finest timber Gothic houses, dating from 1862. Home to Buckland's 21 children, Highwic remained in the family until sold to the Auckland City Council and the New Zealand Historic Places Trust in 1978.

Furnished with antiques and set in 1.2 hectares of picturesque gardens and grounds, Highwic is a popular functions centre for weddings, dinner parties, conferences, meetings and special corporate events.

Within the house the large Drawing Room is ideal for functions up to 80 guests and the Billiard Room is a special venue for intimate dinner parties with seating for up to 60 guests.
