Waikawa Museum contains information, mainly of local history.

The Museum is housed in an old but upgraded school building and tells the historical story of the area from the early whalers to gold mining, fishing, sawmilling and stone quarrying and present day farming. It also has an interesting farm machinery display.

The museum is situated on the South Catlins Heritage Trail in the hamlet of Waikawa. The museum is set in garden surrounds with picnic areas and tables available for visitors. open daily 10:30 to 4:30.
