Situated at the mouth of the Whanganui River, Wanganui is a delightful town rich in both Maori and European history. The Whanganui River is New Zealand's longest navigable river and river cruises are available on the 100 year old Paddle Steamer "Waimarie". Travel the historic River road and experience Maori culture in the numerous small settlements. Take a jet boat trip to the enigmatic "Bridge to Nowhere".
