Waitakaruru Arboretum & Sculpture Park

Carved into a hillside, this 42-acre former quarry has been transformed into a magnificent collection of trees and shrubs. Waitakaruru Arboretum & Sculpture Park aims to promote sculptural art, maintain and develop the Waitakaruru arboretum and quarry gardens and provide a venue for charity fund-raisers.

This landscape provides the setting for the more than 70 sculptures on display; the park is the most extensive outdoor sculpture gallery in New Zealand. Featuring three new shows per year, the park is open daily from 10am until dusk.

The park has all weather walking tracks, therefore sturdy shoes are recommended, there is also ample parking and selected sections of the park are accessible by wheelchair.
