Otago is now recognised as a world force in the production of premium pinot noir and also produces strikingly distinctive chardonnay and aromatic varietals. Waitiri Creek Wines takes this tradition to another level, with premium quality wines with amazing tastes.
The unique tasting facility is open to the public seven days for tasting and lunch on the Shanagolden Block. Travellers and locals alike are encouraged to come and experience this amazing vineyard and all that it has to offer.
Originally the hosts found a block in the Gibbston Valley at the end of 1993 and planted it with three hectares of chardonnay vines in 1994. A second suitable block was located and planted in 1996 with five hectares of pinot noir and a small parcel of gewurztraminer vines. The growing demand for the wines has meant significant expansion since 2003 and it's sure to continue into the future.
