Paraparaumu is the secondary airport for Wellington, located on the nearby Kapiti Coast. It is a small airport with mainly general aviation flights. The airport sees approximately 53,000 arrivals and departures each year. A small air service operator, air2there has scheduled flights to Wellington, Blenheim and Nelson. Kapiti Aero Club, Helipro and Wellington Gliding Club also use the airport.
Paraparaumu Airport is one of the most significant glider centres in New Zealand.
