Tairawhiti Museum and art gallery is one of New Zealand's most innovative regional museums. Touring expeditions bring the best national and international collections to Gisborne, whilst the museum's own permanent collections showcase the history and culture of Eastland.

Tairawhiti Museum's mission is to act as a gateway/waharoa and resource for the art, culture and heritage of the Gisborne community - and it certainly achieves this with it's wide ranging collections.

Open 7 Days. Monday - Saturday, 10am - 4pm Sunday and Public Holidays 1:30pm - 4:00pm *Extended hours from 27 December through to the end of January - Open 7 days a week, 10am - 4pm Closed - Easter Friday and Christmas Day and Boxing Day
